AMETHYSTEA, in botany, a genus of the diandra monogynia class, of which there is but one species, viz. the cærulea, a native of the mountains of Siberia. The corolla of this plant is quinquefide, the calyx a little bell-shaped, and the capsule contains four gibbous seeds.
