AMYRIS, in botany, a genus of the decandria monogynia class. The flower consists of four oblong petals. The stygma is quadrangular; the fruit is a berry of the drupa kind. There are four species of this genus, viz. the elemifera, maritima, toxifera, and balsamifera, all natives of America.
