ANDRYALA, in botany, a genus of the syngenesia polygamia æqualis class. The receptacle is villous; the calix is divided into many equal round pieces; and the pappus is simple and sessile. There are four species of the andryala, viz. the integifolia, a native of France and Sicily; the rugifolia, a native of the Archipelagus; the sinuata, a native of Montpellier and Sicily; and the lanata, a native of the southern parts of Europe.
