ANTHOSPERMUM, in botany, a genus of the polygamia dicecia class. The calix of the hermaphrodite flower is divided into four parts; it has no corolla; the stamens are four, and the pistilli two; the germin is below the flower. There are two species of anthospermum, viz. the æthiopicum, a native of Æthiopia; and the ciliare, a native of the Cape of Good-Hope.
