ASARUM, in botany, a genus of the dodecandria monogynia class. The asarum is quinquisid, and rests on the germen; it has no corolla. The species are four, only one of which, viz. the europæum, is a native of Britain. It is a strong sternutatory, and occasions great evacuations, both upwards and downwards.
