BACCHARIS, in botany, a genus of the syngenesia polygamia superflua class. The receptacle is naked, and the pappus bristly; the calix is imbricated and cylindrical; the hermaphrodite stamens are intermixed with the female ones. The species are seven, all natives of warm climates.
