BAMPTON

BAMPTON, a market-town of Oxfordshire, situated on the river Isis, about ten miles south-west of Oxford, $1^\{\backslash circ\}\; 35\text{'}$ W. long. and $51^\{\backslash circ\}\; 40\text{'}$ N. lat. BAMPTON is also the name of a market-town in Devonshire, twenty miles north of Exeter, in $3^\{\backslash circ\}\; 40\text{'}$ W. long. and $51^\{\backslash circ\}\; 5\text{'}$ N. lat.
