BOSSORA, or BASSORA, a large port-town of Asiatic Turkey, in the province of Eyrac Arabic; situated on the western shore of the river Euphrates, about forty miles north-west of the gulph of Persia, or Boffora, in E. long. 47^{\circ}, and N. lat. 30^{\circ}.
