BRETON

BRETON, or CAPE-BRETON, an American island, subject to the English, and separated from New-Scotland by a narrow strait called Canso: it is about one hundred miles in length, and fifty in breadth, and is situated between $61^\{\backslash circ\}$ and $62^\{\backslash circ\}$ W. long. and between $45^\{\backslash circ\}$ and $48^\{\backslash circ\}$ N. lat.
