BUDA, the capital of lower Hungary, about 130 miles south-east of Vienna: It stands on the side of a hill, on the south-west side of the Danube, and is well fortified and defended by a castle, esteemed one of the strongest fortresses in Hungary: E. long. 19^{\circ} 20', N. lat. 52^{\circ} 25'.
