BUPHTHALMUM, a genus of the syngenesia polyga-
ma superflua class. The receptacle is paleaceous; the margin of the pappus is obsolete; the sides of the seeds are marginated; and the stigmata of the hermaphrodite floscules are undivided. The species are ten, none of which are natives of Britain.
