ADIAPHORISTS, ADIAPHORISTÆ, or ADIAPHORITES, in church-history, a name importing lukewarmness, given, in the sixteenth century, to the moderate Lutherans, who embraced the opinions of Melancthon, whose disposition was vastly more pacific than that of Luther.
