CLIFFORTIA, in botany, a genus of the dicotandria class. The calix of the male consists of three leaves; it has no corolla; and the stamens are about thirty. The calix of the female consists likewise of three leaves; and the corolla is wanting; the styles are two; and the capsule is bilocular, and contains one seed. The species are four, all natives of Ethiopia.
