CALQUING, or CALKING, a term used in printing, &c. where the backside of any design is covered with a black or red colour, and the strokes, or lines, traced through, on a waxed plate, wall, or other matter, by passing lightly over each stroke of the design with a point, which leaves an impression of the colour on the plate or wall.
