CYNOGLOSSUM, in botany, a genus of the pentandria monogynia class. The corolla is tunnel-shaped; the feeds are depressed, and the stylus is fixed to the interior side of them. There are eight species, only one of which is a native of Britain, viz. the officinale, or hound's-tongue; the root is said to be pectoral and narcotic.
