DIPSACUS, or TEASEL, in botany, a genus of the tetrandria monogynia class. The common calix consists of many leaves, and the proper one is above the fruit; and the receptacle is paleaceous. There are three species, all natives of Britain, viz. the fulvum, or manured teasel; the sylvestris, or wild teasel; and the pilosus, or small wild teasel.
