ECOUTE, in the menage, a pace or motion of a horse, when he rides well upon the hands and the heels, is compactly put upon his haunches, and hears or listens to the heels or spurs, and continues duly balanced between the heels, without throwing to either side. This happens when a horse has a fine sense of the aids of the hand and heel.
