ELÆAGNUS, DUTCH MYRTLE, in botany, a genus of the tetrandria-monopodia class. It has no corolla; the calix is bell-shaped above the fruit, and has four segments; and the drupa is bell-shaped, and below the calix. There are three species, none of them natives of Britain.
