ELOPS, in ichthyology, a genus of the order of abdo-minales. The head is smooth, and the teeth are in the margin of the jaws and the palate; there are thirty rays in the branchiostegal membrane. There is but one species, viz. the savrus, with a tail armed both above and below. It is a native of Carolina.
