ERVUM, in botany, a genus of the diadelphia decandria class. The calix consists of five segments of an equal length with the corolla. There are six species, three of which are natives of Britain, viz. the solonicense, or spring tare; the tetraspermum, or smooth tare; and the hirsutum, or hairy tare.
