CAPPARIS, in botany, a genus of the polyandria monogynia class. The calix consists of four cortaceous leaves; the corolla has four petals; the stamens are long; and the capsule is fleshy within, unilocular, and supported by a pedunculus. There are ten species, none of which are natives of Britain.
