EUONYMUS, the SPINDLE-TREE, in botany, a genus of the pentandria monogynia class. The corolla consists of five petals; the capsule is five-sided, and has five coloured cells; and the seeds have calyptra. There are two species, one of which, viz. the europæus, spindle-tree, or prickwood, is a native of Britain.
