HYSSOPUS, in botany, a genus of the didynamia gymnospermia class. The inferior lip of the corolla has a small crenated segment; and the stamens are erect and distant. There are three species, none of them natives of Britain. The leaves are said to be good in asthma, coughs, and other disorders of the lungs.
