NEW JERSEY, a province in North America, which may be bounded on the north by a line drawn from

the river Delaware to Hudson's river, which divides it from New-York; by the Atlantic Ocean, on the east; by the same ocean on the south; and by Delaware bay and river, which separates it from Pennsylvania, on the west. It lies between 74^{\circ} and 76^{\circ} of W. long. and between 39^{\circ} and 41^{\circ} of N. lat. and is about 140 miles in length, and 60 in breadth. It is subject to Britain.
