NEW JERSEY, a province in North America, which may be bounded on the north by a line drawn from
the river Delaware to Hudson's river, which divides it from New-York; by the Atlantic Ocean, on the east; by the same ocean on the south; and by Delaware bay and river, which separates it from Pennsylvania, on the west. It lies between and of W. long. and between and of N. lat. and is about 140 miles in length, and 60 in breadth. It is subject to Britain.
