CATANANCHE, in botany, a genus of plants belonging to the syngenesia polygamia aequalis class. The
receptacle is paleaceous; the calix is imbricated; and the pappus has an awn, with a kind of ceteaceous calix. There are three species, none of which are natives of Britain.
