LOBELIA, in botany, a genus of the syngentesia monogynia class. The calix consists of five segments, and the corolla of one irregular petal; and the capsule has two and sometimes three cells. There are 26 species, only one of them a native of Britain, viz. the dori-nanna, or water gladiol.
