CELTIS, in botany, a genus of the polygamia monœcia class. The calix of the hermaphrodite is divided into five segments; it has no corolla; there are five
stamina, and two styli; the drupa contains but one seed. The calix of the male is divided into six segments; it has no corolla; and the stamina are six. The species are three, none of them natives of Britain.
