PLUMBAGO, in botany, a genus of the pentandria monogynia class. The corolla is bell-shaped; the stamens are inserted into scales at the base of the corolla; the stigma is quinquefid; and there is but one oblong truncated seed. The species are four, none of them natives of Britain.
