MATRICARI, in botany, a genus of the syngenesia polygamia superflua class. The receptacle is naked; it has, no pappus; the calix is hemispherical, and imbricated, with sharp solid margins. There are five species, all of them natives of Britain, viz. The parthenium, or feverfew, which is reckoned good in hysterical cases; the chamomilla, or corn-feverfew, the flowers of which are stomachic; the suaveolens, or sweet-scented feverfew; the inodora, or field feverfew; and the maritima, or sea feverfew.
