RUBUS, in botany, a genus of the icofandria polygynia

class. The calix consists of five segments, and the corolla of five petals; and the berry has many seeds. There are 13 species, five of them natives of Britain, viz. the ideus, or raspberry-bush; the cesus, or small bramble; the fruticosus, or common bramble; the saxatilis, or stone-bramble; and the chamaemorus, or cloud-berries.
