SANICULA, in botany, a genus of the pentandria digynia class. The umbellæ are thick; the fruit is rough; and the flowers of the disk are abortive. The species are three, only one of them, viz. the europæa, or sanicle, is a native of Britain. The leaves are supposed to be vulnerary.
