SAUVAGESIA, in botany, a genus of the pentandria monogynia class. The calix consists of five leaves, and the corolla of five fimbriated petals; the nectarium has five leaves, lying alternately between the petals; and the capsule has one cell. There is but one species, a native of Jamaica.
