SCANDIX, in botany, a genus of the pentandria digynia class. The corolla is of an irregular shape; the fruit is subulated; the petals are entire; and the floscules of the
disc are generally males. There are eight species, two of them natives of Britain, viz. the pecken, shepherds needle, or venus's comb; and the onthriscus, or small hemlock shrub.
