SQUALUS, the SHARK KIND, in ichthyology, a genus belonging to the order of amphibians. There are five spiracula, one on each side of the neck; the body is oblong, and somewhat cylindrical; and the mouth is situate in the anterior part of the head. There are 15 species, all inhabitants of the ocean.
