VALLISNERIA, in botany, a genus of the dicecia diandria class. The spatha both of male and female consists of two segments, and the corolla of three petals; the spadix of the male is covered with floccules; the capsule has one cell, containing many seeds; and there are three styles. There is but one species, a native of Italy.
