ULMUS, in botany, a genus of the pentandria digynia class. The calix consists of five segments; it has no corolla; and the berry is dry, compressed, and membranaceous. There are three species, two of them natives of Britain, viz. the campestris, or common elm; and the glabra, or broad-leaved elm.
