NAJAS, in botany, a genus of the monocot monandria class. The calix of the male is cylindrical and bisid; the corolla consists of four segments; and there are no filaments: The female has neither calix nor corolla, but one pistil and an ovated capsule. There is only one species, viz. the marins, found in the European seas.
