AGRIPPA (Herod) son of Aristobulus by Berenice, and the grandson of Herod the Great. He was cast into prison by Tiberius for wishing Caius emperor, who gave him a chain of gold, equal in weight to those which he had worn in prison, and afterward made him king of Judea. He put St James to death, imprisoned St Peter, and, for allowing the deifying shouts of the people, was eaten up with worms.
