ALBANENSES, in church-history, the same with Albigenes, according to some; according to others, different. Those, however, who are for distinguishing them, attribute the same opinions to both; only making the Albanenses to have been prior in respect of time, as having been found towards the close of the eighth century; whereas the Albigenes appeared not till the twelfth.
