ALOPECURUS, or FOX-TAIL GRASS, in botany, a genus of the triandra digynia class. There are seven species, viz. the pratensis, or meadow fox-tail grass; the bulbosus, or bulbous fox-tail grass; the geniculatus, or stouter fox-tail grass; and the myofuroides, or field fox-tail grass; these four grow wild in Britain: the agrestis, the monspeliensis, the panicus, and the hordeiformis, are all natives of France and the southern parts of Europe, except the last, which is a native of India*.
