AMALEKITES, by some thought to be the descendants of Amalek the grandson of Esau; by others, with more probability, to have been a Canaanitish tribe. They were a wicked people, and therefore devoted to destruction. They lived to the east of the Lacus Asphaltites; next the Moabites to the south, and the Ammonites to the north. A branch of them dwelt to the south of Canaan.
