ANDAMAN, or ANDEMAN Islands, in the East Indies, situated about 80 leagues distance from Tanasserim on the coast of Siam. They are but little known; only the East India ships sometimes touch at them, and are supplied by the natives with rice, herbs, and fruits: the inhabitants are by some represented as an harmless, inoffensive race of men, and by others as cannibals.
