AQUINO (Philip d'), in Latin Aquinas or Aquini-us, having turned from Judaism, had a pension from the clergy of France; and acquired much reputation by his knowledge

knowledge of the Hebrew language, which he taught at Paris, in the reign of Lewis XIII. and by the books he published, among which is his Dissertationum Hebraico-Chaldaico-Thalmudico-Rabbinicum. His grandson, Anthony D'Anquin, was first physician to Lewis XIV.
