ASTA Regia, a town of Bætica, (Pliny); situated at that mouth of the Bætis, which was choked up with mud, to the north of Cadiz; 16 miles distant from the port of Cadiz, (Antonine). Its ruins shew its former greatness. Its name is Phoenician, denoting a frith, or arm of the sea, on which it stood. It is said to be the same with XERA; which see.
