BEROEA, (anc. geog.) a noble city of Macedonia to the south of Edessa, or Aegæ, and south-east of Cyrtus. The people are commended in Scripture for their reception of the Gospel on a fair and impartial examination; now supposed to be Aleppo. See that article.
