BORBONIA, in botany, a genus of the decandria order, belonging to the diadelphia class of plants, for which there is no English name. There are six species, all of which are natives of warm countries. They are a kind of broom; and in the places where they grow naturally, they rise to the height of ten or twelve feet, but in Europe seldom rise more than four or five.
