BADAJOS, a large and strong town, capital of Estremadura in Spain. It is seated on the river Guadiana, over which there is a fine bridge built by the Romans. On this bridge the Portuguese were defeated in 1661, by Don John of Austria. W. Long. 7. 3. N. Lat. 38. 35.
