CATHERLOUGH, a county of Ireland, about 28 miles in length, and 8 in breadth; bounded on the east by Wicklow and Wexford, on the west by Queen's-county, on the north by Kildare, and on the south and south-west by Wexford. It contains 5600 houses, 42 parishes, five baronies, or boroughs, and sends six members to parliament, viz. two for the county, two for Catherlough, and two for Old Leighlen.
