CLOYNE, a city and bishop's see of Ireland, in the county of Cork, and province of Munster: W. Long. 8. o. N. Lat. 51. 40.

CLUE of a SAIL, the lower corner; and hence CLUE-Garnets, are a sort of tackles fastened to the clues, or lower corners of the main-sail, or fore-sail, to truss them up to the yard as occasion requires, which is usually termed clueing up the sails.

CLUE-Lines are for the same purpose as clue-garnets; only that the latter are confined to the courles, whereas the former are common to all the square-sails. See these ropes as represented in the article SHIP.
