CALQUING, or CALXING, a term used in painting, &c. where the back-side of any thing is covered over with a black or red colour, and the strokes or lines traced through, on a waxed plate, wall, or other matter, by passing lightly over each stroke of the design with a point, which leaves an impression of the colour on the plate or wall.
